The Traitor Who Saved Ticonderoga: Benedict Arnold at the Battle of Valcour Island

As an overwhelming British force headed south from Canada in 1776, Arnold assembled a ragtag fleet to meet in a desperate naval action. Though defeated, his heroics gave out infant nation a year to breathe & win the pivotal victory of Saratoga the following year.
