The Hancock House has a treasure of genealogical and local history, from census information to obituaries to complete newspapers. The library consists of some seven thousand volumes principally on New York State. It is especially strong in material on the Lake Champlain, Lake George and Adirondack sections. The books do not circulate but are carefully cataloged and are available for use in the building.  If you are searching for a topic, please use the site search at the bottom of the page to see if our website may contain information, or call, visit or write to us.  Most of our material WILL NOT be available through the website, as we are not completely digital. Museum, library and lecture resources are too vast to list online, please don't hesitate to use our online Contact Us Form to get more details.  We have an online blog of postings on historical topics of interest.

Education

Visitors from schools and organizations will find knowledgeable staff as well as tactile artifacts on any visit to our museum.  Our staff often speak at various events on a variety of topics, please ask if you wish us to visit you locally.

Museum

Physical items including clothing, household and craft implements, furniture, and artifacts are on display to tell the tale of our past in this elegant Georgian mansion. See our exhibit descriptions page for more!

Some items must be preserved away from light and handling, but we have many pieces that are "hands on" as well.  Photo opportunities of a unique nature exist here were you may get a "selfie" in our WWI display, capture yourself with our stately rosewood grandfather clock, or pose beside a mannequin dressed in period garb.

We open our doors for discovery and awareness at every opportunity.

If you are interested in booking our space for your event, please also Contact Us.

Veteran's Honor Roll

Ticonderoga has a long association with the military and thus we are building a database containing family and cemetery information which is currently online.
